Augusta Whale Watching – Southern Rights Breaching Away!

The Southern Right Whales currently visiting Flinders Bay are having a wonderful time in their nursery grounds. The babies born earlier on in the season are now growing in size and getting bigger, stronger and more adventurous! Little Colourpatch decided to practice all he has learnt so far and demonstrated to us his breaching, head lunging, spy hopping, tail slapping and even a few adorable pec slaps.

Little Coloupatch was named after the many white patches on his back, fluke and belly which allows us to easily identify him. One particular patch looks very similar to the shape of crocodile jaws (in an artistic kind of way!) so we decided to name his mum Irwin after the much loved Australian Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
