Bremer Killer Whale Experience today was special as we surfed with the Orca while new calf Jessica joined in on the fun and kept up with the family very well! Arriving in The Patch the Orca were on the move and it was great fun to travel with them all in such an excitable mood. New calf Jessica was keeping up with everyone as she moved with her like glue to be pulled along in slipstream of Wendy who kept a watchful eye over her calf. The family moved with ease and came right over for some enjoyable bow and wake riding as they came within a few feet of our vessel while showing off their speed and coordination. Ferrari was all over the GoPro throughout the day and the interaction was just like the one we had last season with Ferrari, very special and wonderful to spend some time with this friendly Orca. It was all about fun and travel today as the Orca moved consistently and surfed the whole way before regrouping.
A few pod members rested while others came over to play and socialise around us before they would head off again. It was a great day with the Orca and it is still hard to believe six new calves have been sighted so far this season with all doing extremely well and looking healthy. Every year there is always a few significant events and this season will always be special for the arrival of Aurora Star, Sunny, Gabrielle, Mabe, Jessica and Noosabu. It is with great excitement we anticipate the years ahead watching these babies grow and develop into the apex predators we know they will become. It will take much training and guidance from the family of each calf to ensure they understand the intricacies of being an Orca but with their support and protection these Orca calves will soon be growing not only in size but in confidence as well. Sleepy Australian Sea Lions rested lazily on Glasse Island as we made our way back towards the Bremer Bay Boat Harbour after yet another wonderful Bremer Killer Whale Experience.
