Bremer Bay Orca Surge

Whale Watch Western Australia
Bremer Bay Orca surge all the way to the west today as we met an incredible four family pods including big boys B-Slice and El Notcho! Arriving in The Patch we were warmly welcomed by B-Slice who raced over for morning greetings and it felt like a bug hug as he swam around and around us, belly up and very happy. He was excited as he began to surge back with the rest of the family pod and surfed along with us, a beautiful sight to see this healthy young male accelerating with ease. The surge led them all the way to further family pods and we were very excited to see Cookie and her family along with much loved male El Notcho, he was back!

Looking healthy and his usual easy going self, we were so happy to see him and the family pod back in the hunting grounds. Anzac was also very excited to see us today as he raced in for some zoomies around the boat and in-between some surging to the west he made sure to come over for some playtime. Orca will surge by moving quickly and as they break the waters surface with the faster pace they will send white water flying creating a beautiful and powerful sight. The extra speed enables them to cover distance efficiently but also requires more oxygen so they will surface more regularly during a surge and this will leave behind those plumes of white water. It is exciting, exhilarating and a true spectacle of just how powerful these apex predators are when we get to witness a Bremer Bay Orca surge just like we did today.
