Killer Whale Fun

Whale Watch Western Australia
Killer Whale fun in The Patch today as the youngsters played for over three hours and Queen then made her appearance in the hunting grounds. It was a cool day after the southerlies had ruffled up the weather, it was good to be back out on the water again as the winds and swell eased. Arriving in The Patch we were immediately met by Cheryl and her family who were all very excited to meet us as they came over for morning greetings. Giovanni is looking much better and we are relieved to see him getting stronger and back to his usual looking self after a more concerning start in the early new year. His weight looks good and the swelling is almost not noticeable now which is a huge relief, meanwhile B-Slice is looking as healthy and handsome as ever!

The youngsters were having a blast today as they were given the go ahead by the adults to have some fun and they took full advantage of the opportunity with over three hours of play! Wrestling, chasing, a few breaches and many beautiful spy hops were observed as they seemed thrilled to have a morning of Killer Whale fun ahead of them. On our arrival earlier the pod had left a fresh oil slick so we suspected they had eaten recently which explained the sleepy behaviour of the adults and endless energy if the youngsters. It was a wonderful day spent with this special family and our last interaction for the afternoon was with Queen and her pod who we observed amongst yet another oil slick, she had been successful yet again! A fantastic day with our oceans apex predators and the fun that can be had amongst the younger members of the family pod.
