Bremer Orca Giovanni Looking Stronger

Bremer Orca Giovanni looking stronger has made us all smile and a huge sigh of relief as this beautiful boy looks immensely better compared to our first sighting of him back in January. Today we were excited to see Giovanni socialising with Deano as these two males enjoyed each others company before they were interrupted by over fifty Pilot Whales surging in! The energy lifted as the Pilot Whales arrived and the boys moved back out towards the rest of the Orca family pod. Eventually the Pilot Whales lost some interest and moved away as Giovanni took the opportunity to resume socialising with Deano. The reason behind Giovanni’s condition is still unknown, we suspect he may be carrying an injury that could have resulted during a hunt or interaction with other Orca.

He seems in great spirits with plenty of socialising and his body condition appears to be returning back to normal, but we will continue to monitor him carefully throughout the season ahead. B-Slice and family joined us as they slept and seemed rather relaxed for most of the morning as they didn’t move very far while surfacing alongside us looking very sleepy. Eventually it was time to regroup and we soon found ourselves also travelling with Queen and her family as they approached and surrounded us excitedly in afternoon greetings. It was then time to move out and settle into forage mode as these two family pods worked together in search of securing an afternoon meal. A great day to spend time with them all and the very cheeky Pilot Whales, we are so pleased to see Giovanni looking much better and will continue to keep all our Pod Members updated as we go!
