Bremer wildlife Easter egg hunt it was today as we sighted the Bremer Easter Bunny, playful Pilot Whales, extraordinary flying Striped Dolphins, a cheeky NZ Fur Seal and of course the marvellous Orca! A very special day to celebrate and enjoy with all of our Pod Members onboard as our first big surprise was seeing the Easter bunny waving on the beach, surely the rarest sighting of the season so far! Arriving in the sighting grounds our next interaction were with the beautiful Pilot Whales with so many gathering in a very boisterous mood. Such interactive and social creatures, we love spending time with the Pilots and today with all their spy hops and tail slaps they were having a blast and welcoming us in on the fun. The next sighting in our wildlife journey today was rather spectacular as hundreds of Striped Dolphins porpoised in the golden morning sunlight and it was simply stunning to see, one of natures most beautiful spectacles.
It appeared there was a lot of food in the area today for these smaller predators as our next species observed was a cheeky NZ Fur Seal. Lounging about without a care in the world it made us smile to see this fearless whiskered hunter enjoying a relaxing morning after hopefully a good feed of fish. Our day was completed with our magnificent Orca as Giovanni and family arrived and our oceans apex predators presence was immediately noticed in the area. Firstly stealthy, they appeared to be tracking something and we wondered perhaps if it was a Beaked Whale in the area after all the other fish and squid hunters we observed throughout the day. It was time to continue with their day though and the potential prey that was being tracked evaded them for now as the family began to regroup. Giovanni set the pace and the family pod moved together completing a very special day. Our family are grateful to celebrate Easter as we have done throughout our lives but today it was wonderful to do so with our Pod Members and the magnificent creatures of Gods creation.
