Perth Blue Whale Season 2026

Whale Watch Western Australia
Perth Blue Whale Season 2026 started today with three beautiful Blue Whales and a cheeky Humpback Whale making for a very special start to Perth Canyon Season 2026! It was exciting to be heading back out to explore after our relocation from Bremer Bay to Fremantle and our team was thrilled to be seeing what was to be found in the Perth Canyon. Our first sighting was a tricky one, tall blow and a turquoise glow just below the surface and moving slowly. Waiting for the next surfacing, we all smiled to see the distinctive rostrum and dorsal fin of a large Humpback Whale.

Cruising north and not in any hurry, this is our first Humpback Whale sighting off Fremantle for this year and a very exciting one as the Humpbacks seem to be shuffling along Australia’s coastline a little earlier than usual in bigger numbers. Shortly afterwards a much bigger blow erupted and then another as two Blue Whales surfaced a short distance from each other. A third Blue Whale was also foraging nearby and we were thrilled to see them looking so well and enjoying the plentiful bounty of food available for them in the department waters of the Perth Canyon. Today we found the Blue Whales to be very interested in us as they would approach slowly while re-oxygenating in preparation for their next dive. A perfect start to our Perth Canyon Blue Whale Season 2026 as we celebrate our tenth year with the Blue Whales this year!
