A very special day for the Whale Watch family as for the first time ever for Western Australia we will be operating Winter Whale Watch tours from Perth! Today was our very first journey and we were thrilled to be out and amongst the Humpback Whale migration as they journey towards warmer breeding and calving grounds. Spending the summer months feasting in Antarctica, this northern migration is an important time for all age groups of the population with more experienced adults beelining the northwest grounds they know well while last years calves are now all grown up and on their own, exploring our coastline.
Today was a wonderful mix of curious youngsters, playful juveniles and mature males and females competing and communicating the spectacular Language of the Whales. The northern migration is well underway with thousands of Humpback Whales taking over the coastline on the migratory march. Never before have tours operated from Perth to witness the northern Humpback Whale migration and our family and team are absolutely thrilled to provide this opportunity to our Pod Members. It will be a brand new research frontier for our team as we collect data on our sightings and interactions in these waters off Perth, better understanding this epic migrations and the important role this particular stretch of coastline plays in the annual migratory journey.
You too will be able to join this inaugural Perth Winter Whale Watch season with tours departing throughout the winter months and then we welcome the southern migration which begins in spring. You can now enjoy our award winning Humpback Whale Experience from June to November every year, right here in Perth. Our winter departures from Augusta and Albany will still be available as we work alongside our Pod Partners and provide our guests with the opportunity to witness this extraordinary migration from the departure location that is closest to you.
