Perth’s Very Best Whale Watch Tour

Whale Watch Western Australia
Perth’s very best Whale Watch tour can be enjoyed with Whale Watch Western Australia with daily departures available to witness the epic Humpback Whale migration. Today was an epic day with beautiful weather and spectacular whales with a very bouncy male calf in the morning and competitive adults during our midday tour. Arriving in the sighting grounds we were immediately welcomed by a full body breaching calf and this little boy was ready to have fun! Mum was gently guiding her calf towards other pods and he was making the most of the opportunity to practise his full body breaching making for a spectacular display for all to see onboard.

Approaching a second mum and calf we could see this mother whale was very thin and with limited energy reserves the interaction was brief before they continued resting and our breaching calf continued on before mum was finally able to settle him down for a rest after a solid forty minutes of breaching exercise. Our last pod for the morning was a mum, calf and escort with the protective male tail lobbing a couple of times as a recreational vessel passed by the pod. The local Rottnest Bottlenose Dolphins were all together and came over to say a quick hello before continuing on with their foraging, a lovely surprise to see them this morning.

The midday tour was filled with much energy and excitement as our first pod of three adults were busy breaching, pec slapping and performed an incredible display of powerful inverted tail slapping. It was this pod that eventually joined with a nearby mum, calf and escort who had originally been socialising with another mum and calf but they noticed the adults approaching and moved away. The bachelor males now challenged the escort male who had been travelling with one of the mums and calves with the chase now on and it was fascinating to observe the situation unfold. A very special day to observe and learn the Language of the Whales with both tours observing these conversations amongst the pods making for some wonderful whale watching.
