Guess who just got back today? Them wild-eyed boys that had been away!” The Thin Lizzy hit was definitely playing in the back of our minds today as we spent a wonderful morning watching all of the big Humpback boys show off their strength and energy trying to catch the eye of a lovely female. One of the pods we were lucky enough to spend over an hour with watching as they playfully twisted and turned with many spy hops, big belly rolls and tail sailing.
Very exciting to see so many different pods around communicating and interacting with one another and because of this we are starting to see a lot more surface activity such as breaching and peduncle lobs. A very fun moment today was when an Antarctic Skua was flying right next to the wheelhouse window looking at who was inside before circling our boat checking everyone out on the bow and also our back deck upstairs… it was very nice to meet you too Mr. Skua!
