Not long after we left the marina a blow was sighted close by and as we waited for the whale to resurface once again everyone was caught by surprise! Only 3 meters off our bow a very young juvenile Humpback surfaced and it was very clear that he was having a sleep in….teenagers! He was very still on the surface replenishing his oxygen supplies before disappearing into Flinders Bay.
Just as we were about to leave and let him enjoy his sleep in he was off! Racing across our bow and circling us a few times before zigzagging in front of us, this cheeky one was definitely having everyone onboard following his footprints that he left behind.
Plenty of Humpback pods around this morning but after a few days of high winds and swell many seemed to be taking the opportunity to enjoy a mornings sleep in with plenty of logging sighted today. Two separate pods of Common Dolphins interacted with us today with all in the pod looking very well fed and happy to say a quick hello!
