Best Fremantle Whale Tours

Whale Watch Western Australia
Best Fremantle Whale Tours during August are an exciting time as we see the transition from northern to southern migration and the energy it brings to our coastline. A spectacular morning with the whales with a flirty female creating a commotion amongst the pods as she breached so all could hear her and it worked! She was already travelling with an escort male and he had his worked cut out for him as the female put on an enormous display of breaching and pec slapping. This was a great example of the Language of the Whales and how a female will call in the attention of bachelor males nearby. Finding the best bodyguard for the long journey back to Antarctica is important as an inexperienced male will be less likely to fight off predators such as Orca or disperse other bachelor males on their approach.

Today this female was on the lookout for a perfect companion and was also putting a test out to her male escort to see if he could rise to the challenge. He did very well and even when the enormous challengers arrived he held his ground with an intense tail lob keeping them away from his female. The female continued on with her breaching, carefree and putting on the most incredible display of energy and elegance. All of the pods nearby and out towards the horizon began to react and respond with breaching of their own and it was brilliant to watch the ocean alive with the Language of the Whales. The weeks ahead will continue to see more and more Humpback Whales moving through the sighting grounds as the southbound migration momentum begins to increase as the weather warms and the whales enjoy their time in the waters off Fremantle.
