Bremer Bay Orcas Breaching

Whale Watch Western Australia
Bremer Bay Orcas breaching was incredible today as six family pods totalling over 80 Orcas socialised through until mid morning then took off in a high energy surge to the west with a breaching extravaganza! It was set to be a very special day as on our arrival blows were observed immediately and we were soon surrounded by three different family pods. It was a big social morning as the Orca mingled together and the calves were thrilled with plenty of wrestling and chasing happening around us. Hunting was still going on as regular, small oil slicks formed at the surface regularly and it appeared squid may have been the target. The fun continued as we watched for any change of energy and then there it was, multiple Orca launched simultaneously into breaching and then they were off! Surging to the west we were amazed by the Bremer Bay Orcas breaching today as for over two hours it was non stop surface action. Breach after breach, tail lobs and porpoising caused white water to explode all around us as the Orca were in the mood to play today.

It was incredible to witness and watch as the Orca torpedoed in towards the bow before launching off the bow into a breach, backwards! Further families had joined the surge and we found ourselves interaction with six different family pods today. The boys especially were extremely social as multiple males from the different families enjoyed some bro time today as they all surfed the swell together. Wonks was a big showoff as he launched into sideways breaching at the crest of each swell landing in spectacular fashion as the calves mimicked all that the adults were doing. It was an absolute blast to be with the Orca today and witness such extraordinary acrobatic displays from so many individuals. One last surprise was in store as little tuffs of white water moved in ahead and soon we have over fifty Pilot Whales joined in with he surge to the west. Today it seemed the Pilot Whales realised that this was a rare occasion that they were the ones outnumbered and they didn’t bother pursuing the Orca, instead deciding to surf the swell with them nearby. It truly was a beautiful day in the sun with the spectacular Orca of Bremer Bay with memories made to last a lifetime.
