Bremer Canyon Orca El Notcho

Whale Watch Western Australia

Bremer Canyon Orca El Notcho and his family made the most of their day in The Patch as they cruised in style and covered some miles. It was a different weather pattern today as a cosy cloud cover had settled in as the Shearwaters and Wandering Albatross scanned the sighting grounds. It was matriarch Cookie and her family including much loved and very handsome Bremer Canyon Orca El Notcho. Cutting through the sea with ease the family was covering miles today in search for food. All fishing is often the same, there are good days and not so good days with the Orca needing to find meals regularly. Days like today when food was a little harder for Cookie and family to locate they will visit locations that they have previously been successful in and secured prey. Today it was clear to see that Cookie was on a mission and was diligently showing her family members where they needed to go when in search of a meal.

El Notcho kept close and it is always a joy spending time with this special boy, he is a sensitive character but once you have his trust El Notcho is a very interactive and friendly boy. The family found something small as the Shearwaters squabbled over a tiny scrap and it soon disappeared. It looked to be either squid or fish as it wasn’t big enough to slow them down as the momentum and search mode continued. Swirl decided that it was enough searching for a while as she zoomed over to hangout with us excitedly. Belly up and bow riding it was good to see the family relaxing for a little while after so much searching and miles having been travelled. Cookie is a younger matriarch and only has a small family but in the years ahead this will change as her daughters have their calves. The family pod will grow in size and we cannot weight but are certainly enjoying the time we have with them all now as such. Compact and mature pod. A very relaxing day with the Orca and although a big meal was not secured it was good to cover some miles with the family and see what the fishing was looking like outside of The Patch.
