Bremer Killer Whale Experience

Whale Watch Western Australia
Bremer Killer Whale Experience during February is always an exciting time as family pods gather to hunt and socialise in the waters off Bremer Bay. Today we were thrilled to catchup with Valerie and her family who were busy socialising with Cheryl and her pod members with all enjoying a very social and fun day. The youngsters were very sweet as we watched them play together, youngster Eddie was doing a good job of entertaining calf Luna as they played away from the others. Approaching us with much enthusiasm, we were surrounded by these cheeky apex predators who were chasing, wrestling and surfing the swell. Diving towards us, it is one of their favourite games to line up our vessel and race down the face of a swell like a torpedo before disappearing underneath us and out the other side.

A few small slicks were also observed today as after some playtime it was back to foraging with small successes important as regular meals all add up to good energy intake. Giovanni was socialising again today, it was so good to see him continuing to have fun and he must be feeling much better than earlier on in January. Fanscar was also having a blast as she socialised with Razor and Teddy with some hunting tactics being practiced. Gently lifting calf Teddy above the surface, Fanscar was trying to encourage the little one to push back down onto her and build that strength and skillset that will be required to handle larger prey such as Beaked Whale in the future. Early days for Teddy, it will be another decade before this little one is starting to build a substantial hunting skillset. Training starts early for the Killer Whales and it is something that they do best, we are grateful for the opportunity to travel and learn from them everyday during our Bremer Killer Whale experience.
