Bremer Orca season final days as we enjoy every last moment with the incredible Orca as we near the end of Orca Season 2025. A light morning breeze ruffled the waters surface as we moved out towards the sighting ground with a big blue sky and plenty of sunshine for the day ahead. Arriving in The Patch we had blows just ahead and smiled to see Hermes and her family pod moving together. Relaxed and social they approached for morning greetings and seemed rather pleased to see us as the morning continued with shuffles to the west and east. In between foraging bouts there was plenty of fun to be had as the youngsters were in an especially fun mood. Ferrari, BB, Ruby and brand new calf Jessica all came over for playtime as they rolled and danced around the Steep Point. Belly up approaches ensured they could get a better look of everyone looking back at them as they came within a few feet of us as we drifted.
It is always a thrill to be so very close to wild Orca but even more so when they are wanting to be so close to us and come in for some fun. The family managed to capture something small today as an oil slick formed but nothing overly large as the family continued on with their social interactions. It has been a most remarkable season and with six new calves including baby Jessica welcomed we couldn’t be more pleased in how this season has unfolded so far. The movements of the Orca will continue to increase in the days ahead as their visitation to The Patch will become less frequent as they begin to forage further afield. It is at this time we prepare ourselves for our Perth Canyon Blue Whale season as the numbers of Blue Whales will start to peak soon in those foraging grounds providing wonderful viewing and research opportunities of our worlds largest creature the Blue Whale. A short time left with our magnificent Orca with today being a very special one with Hermes and her pod who are all looking very well and ready to take on the winter and spring ahead.
