Cottesloe Whale Watch

Whale Watch Western Australia
Cottesloe Whale Watch we were this morning as a gorgeous mum and calf became our new best friends while the midday tour observed a very cheeky calf who had a lot to say! The first pod we spotted this morning seemed very excited to meet us as mother whale came straight over and introduced herself and her baby enthusiastically. The entire interaction had us adrift as this mum and bub never left our side and were hanging out and playing right next to us, it was such a joy to be welcomed into this pod. A nearby pod began to approach but the mum and calf we were with had no interest in joining the others and instead wanted to continue playing together and having a big look at all of our Pod Members onboard.

It was a beautiful experience and a very special one to have a completely wild mother whale wanting to spend her morning with us, we felt very blessed. Our midday tour had a few of the pods on the move with adults calling out with friendly pec slapping while a couple of bachelor males were more protective with tail lobs. One pod in particular though was very entertaining as the cheeky male calf was busy playing with seaweed before deciding it was time to practice some tail lobs and inverted tail slaps. Landing right on top of mums head and also that of the male escort, it had us all giggling with how enthusiastic and cheeky this little calf was while nearly causing a few fluke collisions on mums head with all that boisterousness. A nearby calf responded with breaching while another mother began to pec slap and it was wonderful to see the Language of the Whales flowing strongly amongst all the pods this afternoon.
