Fremantle Whale Watch 2025

Whale Watch Western Australia

Fremantle Whale Watch 2025 season has started well as we observe a steady number of Humpback Whales enjoying the comforts of the resting grounds as they stop in for a visit. It is lovely to spend some time meeting these pods and getting to know their characters as many bachelor boys have started the long swim back to the feeding grounds. Our first pod this morning were two boisterous boys who were on the move and getting ready to continue their migration today as they navigated towards Rottnest Island. Long pectoral fins reached out towards the big blue sky before gracefully falling back down and creating a huge sound and splash. The boys were trying to attract some attention their way and see if any others were joining them on the highway southbound.

Each surfacing would follow with a flurry of pec slaps and it was brilliant to see on such beautiful morning. The afternoon was a similar energy as multiple bachelor males moved through the sighting grounds and we had the opportunity of interacting with two seperate pods of three. Noisy trumpeting, a little cheeky push and shove along the way with a few tail lobs and breaches thrown in for good measure had the conversation flowing amongst the pods. It was great to see and be part of the scene this afternoon with such a good number of whales arriving and with the migration travelling twenty-four seven we will continue to observe new arrivals every hour in the sighting grounds as other pods depart after a day or so rest generally. Great photo identification images were also collected today and we cannot wait to see if any of these impressive boys have been observed before along our coastline or if they are new additions to our ever growing catalogue.
