Hello Orca! The warmest of welcomes by the Bremer Bay Orca this morning as on our arrival we were surrounded by them excitedly playing and greeting us with an enormous spy hop off the bow! A thrilling way to meet Orca for the very first time as members of Queen and Cookie’s family were socialising together and welcomed us into the fun. The adults also came over to say good morning before settling back into rest mode and it appeared they had recently found something to eat as the youngsters were still carrying with them small amounts of food. Bubbles, Samurai and little Arry raced over and spent their morning wrestling, spy hopping and belly up approaches all around us with intense focus and enthusiasm.
It was beautiful and such an incredible interaction for all of our Pod Members onboard, especially for those meeting Orca for the very first time. Cheryl and her family were also in The Patch today as they relaxed and enjoyed their late morning and early afternoon of resting. Circling around us closely, it is always special when these family pods choose to relax and rest near to us and catchup on some much needed snooze time. It was fantastic to see multiple family pods back in the heart of The Patch today after yesterday’s incredible interaction with the Antarctic Orca we were keen to see how it may affect the resident Bremer Bay Orca. It is likely the Antarctic Orca have now moved well clear of the area and towards warmer waters, but it is still great to see the Bremer Orca families relaxed, social and going about their daily activities as per usual. There is still much to learn about this extraordinary place and its many visitors.
