Humpback Season 2024 last days are counting down as we enjoy interacting with the last of the mum and calves currently migrating past Perth. A mother Humpbacks care for her calf is truely the most strongest forms of motherhood in the animal kingdom, we watch our mother Humpbacks lead and care for their calf for months before they separate around a year old and it never ceases to amaze us. Our mother today had her calf right beside her and she will go above and beyond for her calf, she will put her life on the line for the survival of her little one. Huge seas and predators loom off the coast of Western Australia as they migrate to Antarctica with every step of the way the mother Humpback protects her calf and does everything she can to help grow and support her calf.
The mother and calf pod we had today was so sweet and curious with mum wanting a closer look at who wee were with her calf coming up right next to us, you could see her teaching her calf with every change of direction, mother whale is always teaching the language of the whales to her calf to ensure he or she has the best chance for survival. These two were on a slow migrational path towards Rottnest island so we joined as a fill in male escort humpback before we had to make our way back to the harbour, we hope this little calf makes it to Antarctica where he or she can feed and get ready for their solo journey as a yearning next year.
