Today, we had the privilege of experiencing the enchanting Language of the Humpback Whales, as they exhibited stunning breaches and tail lobs during our tours. The morning was graced by several playful juveniles, including a recognisable face, our cheeky yearling from the previous day. A few impressive tail lobs established dominance before he chose to engage with everyone onboard. It is always exhilarating to be in such close proximity to these inquisitive and gentle wild whales as they circled around us playfully. Adding to the excitement, local Bottlenose Dolphins joined in, spending the remainder of the tour socialising and frolicking around the Steep Point.
Our afternoon unfolded in a similar manner, with numerous juveniles moving in large numbers through Flinders Bay. Although it is still early in the season, we are already observing a significant influx of Humpback Whales traversing the bay. This afternoon, we witnessed considerable surface activity, highlighted by a few early breaches before the whales ventured over for some playful moments near the Steep Point. Once again, we found ourselves face-to-face with these magnificent juveniles, enjoying their excitement and curiosity as they explored our vessel. The day concluded with a spectacular display of breaching, as we were in awe of a Humpback Whale landing perfectly in our view, framed by a newly appeared rainbow. It was a breathtaking conclusion to a remarkable day of observing the Language of the Humpback Whales in Flinders Bay.
