March Orca Tours in Bremer Bay

Whale Watch Western Australia
March Orca Tours in Bremer Bay are underway as we welcome the start of autumn and the change of season brings much anticipation and excitement for the days ahead. It was such a beautiful day, big blue sky and a calm sea escorted us out to The Patch and we were welcomed by Cheryl and her family pod. Travelling at a steady pace, the family was moving through the perfect conditions with ease and it made for a very lovely sight. It is always special to watch as Orca travel closely together, you can observe the close connections they all have and the importance of family for these apex predators. It was a travel day for the family and as they moved together it gave The Patch some time without their presence which would hopefully entice prey to move into the hunting grounds.

Slowing, the family spun and began to move back towards the east as Razor slipped back behind the family and allowed her calves Eddie and Teddy to enjoy some playtime. Straight into wrestling, these two munchkins were having a blast as the adults of the family moved forwards and Razor hung back with her playful babies. Zooming over to us excitedly, it was special to watch this family interaction between the youngest members of this beautiful pod as the calves made the most of playtime. Teddy would get distracted and double back, we then smiled to watch as Eddie would go back and retrieve him before moving back up towards mum and so the pattern would go much to our amusement. Eventually it was time to snooze for a bit as the family pod began to rest amongst the now very peaceful weather conditions. It was great to also spend some time with the Common Dolphins today who were busy feasting on the plentiful pilchards who have been moving along our coastline in big numbers over the last couple of weeks.
