We were very grateful to have spent our Remembrance Day with our Whales and Pod Members on such an important day for us all to stop and remember. We started with a mum and calf just taking it easy in the resting grounds with the young calf rolling around the surface a little bit more than normal to try and check us out. It wasn’t long until we spotted some heavy blows up on the horizon. As we got closer we soon saw the culprits, seven bachelor boys taking over the resting grounds with their presence. One nearby mum and calf was not happy with their approach so she kept a very low profile while swimming out of the area. The boys had a bit of energy but looked to have been travelling together for a while as they had perfect rhythm with each surfacing. There is always one stand out boy in every bachelor pod and that was the case with one of the males, every surfacing had to be a mini reversal/chin slap without exception. The other boys weren’t too worried about him though as they kept on cruising through the grounds while keeping an eye out for any suitable nearby females to approach.
Our second tour we had a cheeky calf pec slapping away with mum before two nearby mum and calf pods joined together to play. They rolled around and played at the surface for a while until the mums decided it was time to go have a rest. The next mum and calf we came across was very curious coming right up to the bow and circled around our stern having a really good look. The lo al Bottlenose Dolphins also decided to join in on the fun as three mother dolphins and their three calves had approached to socialise with the Humpback Whales before cruising over to say hello to everyone onboard. It is beautiful to watch the interaction between these two species especially when all the mums allow their little ones to play together. A beautiful way to complete a very special day out on the water with the whales and dolphins of Western Australia.
Just before we headed back to the jetty on our morning tour we were approaching the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Remembrance Day. With flowers in hand we stood together as one and shared a minute silence while the Last Post played and Airforce jets roared overhead on their way over the Indian Ocean and towards Kings Park. A moment to remember the ultimate sacrifice that was made by our Diggers to give the world their freedom, we are forever blessed and grateful to have had such incredible men and woman put their lives on the line for the freedom of their families and complete strangers, the unselfishness and courage of our Diggers is a testament to each and every one of them and their families.
We will remember them and they will never be forgotten as they are the second greatest saviours in our history. Today we take a minutes silence, but everyday we are forever grateful to live the lives we live with the freedoms we have because of the loyalty and dedication of our Diggers. Our flowers now rested upon the oceans surface today in memory of our Diggers for their gift of freedom and peace to generations of Australians and nations around the world.
Lest We Forget❤️
