B-Slice and his family welcomed us to the pod today as we enjoyed travelling over twenty kilometres with them with our Pod Members onboard including guest who travelled all the way from Bangkok! B-Slice must have known many had come to see him today as the family pod surrounded us for the morning in a relaxed but playful mode. Swimming slowly together and right alongside us we could hear every exhalation and inhalation clearly. The family pod was happy as they meandered together and with the lovely weather conditions today it was easy to see their size and strength through the water as they travelled effortlessly. The family was playful as they moved behind the stern before swimming up towards the bow and ensured each surfacing they came up from the depths right alongside us cheekily. It was very special to be so close to them all and nice to see them content, perhaps it had been a good evening or predawn morning of foraging.
The afternoon was set to be a different pace from the morning, rest time was completed and now it was time to push back towards The Patch. Moving with a steady pace and neatly formed FLOT line the family covered ground quickly. At first it was a focused move back to the foraging ground which soon turned playful as B-Slice and Dart enjoyed some bow riding. Further pod members joined in as they embraced their inner dolphins with bow riding as we all moved as one back towards the hunting grounds. It took most of the early afternoon but soon we were back within The Patch and in total had travelled over twenty kilometres with B-Slice and family. It was a beautiful day to be with the Orca and very grateful for all of our Pod Member onboard to spend some time with the apex predators of our ocean. It was also very special to welcome our guests today who were visiting from Bangkok to meet the Orca of Western Australia. Wishing our Orca a successful evening of foraging ahead we said Sawasdee Ka (hello in Thai) and Jur Gan Ka (goodbye in Thai) to beautiful B-Slice and his family until we meet again.
