Today we sighted three of the most elusive species who frequent the offshore coastline of Western Australia and it only happens in the Bremer Canyon! Orca, Sperm Whale and Long Finned Pilot Whales were all sighted today during an enormous morning with these world class hunters. The Orca were first to greet us and as they cruised through the canyon we could see black torpedoes charging towards them at full speed as the Long Finned Pilot Whales made a big entrance to the scene! The Orca moved away from the Pilot Whales and dispersed their line further across the canyon as the Pilots regrouped and continued their forward charge to the East.
Shortly after we could see in the distance a muffled angled blow that was coming from a very large and wrinkly body… we had a Sperm Whale! He was a beautiful individual who was replenishing his oxygen levels before going for his next feeding dive but made sure he left an impression as his enormous fluke gracefully lifted from the waters surface and the fluke waterfall began as he disappeared into the deep blue. It was only moments later that the blows of the Orca captured our attention and they raced over towards our vessel playing and surfing around our bow as we watched the apex predators race towards us and under our feet.

The weather gods were reasonable kind and the wildlife cooperated. It was a wonderful day in a comfortable boat. One more to cross off the bucket list and the next time I see a David Attenborough oceanic doco, I can comfortably say “yep, seen that” Thanks to all the enthusiastic staff……
Thank you Reg and that is brilliant to hear you had a wonderful time and it was a perfect day to sight some of our most elusive species!
We chose to book the 3 day fly in fly out experience. We flew to Bremer Bay on the Thursday arriving in time to enjoy being driven around the beautiful local beaches. Our day of whale watching was an amazing experience with sightings of plenty of orca, a large sperm whale and a pod of pilot whales. Great company and knowledgeable crew made for a memorable day. Our third day saw us having a picnic lunch in the Fitzgerald National Park. More gorgeous beaches and amazing scenery. Back to the resort for a coffee and then to the airport where our very comfortable plane returned us to Jandakot. Highly recommend this unique trip.
Thank you Liz for your kind words and taking the time to share your thoughts of your trip, it is much appreciated
We decided to fly from Perth to Bremer Bay on the reasonably priced package offer. They guaranteed we would see the Orca, so I thought we couldn’t lose. Not only did we see Orca on our wonderful day out, but also pilot whales and a Sperm whale with that beautiful tail waving as it dived to the depths. The plane trip was smooth and only 80 minutes, but I still had time for a quick nap. I highly recommend this 3 day experience to everyone, but if you are already nearby, book the day out whale watching to see the mighty Orcas. The staff of the resort, the plane trip and the boat tour are amazing and you’ll be spoilt. You won’t regret it.
Thank you Geoff and we are so pleased you enjoyed your trip, a pleasure to have had you onboard!
