Australia Day 2024 26th January 2024 Australia Day 2024 was spent with the incredible Orca of Bremer Bay as they were once again successful in another Beaked Whale hunt as we were part of every extraordinary moment. Orca Playtime in The Patch 25th January 2024 Orca Playtime in The Patch today as four family pods returned excitedly for an afternoon of socialising and mingling. It was set to be an interesting day as we moved over the swell which helped to stretch out conditions and set a nice rhythm for the search ahead. Bremer Bay Orca El Notcho 24th January 2024 Bremer Bay Orca El Notcho was back in The Patch today along with his family pod as they stretched out and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was another big blue sky day with a calm sea making for an efficient journey out towards the sighting grounds as Offshore Bottlenose Dolphins were busy foraging on the many pilchards to be found in these waters. Killer Whale Hunt Strap-toothed Beaked Whale 23rd January 2024 Killer Whale hunt Strap-toothed Beaked Whale today during a spectacular chase before Hermes and her family pod were successful in completing a remarkable hunt in the waters of the Bremer Canyon. Killer Whales of Australia 22nd January 2024 Killer Whales of Australia were superb today as we enjoyed a morning of socialising, an unbelievable Beaked Whale escape before the afternoon erupted into surface activity. It was a beautiful morning in Bremer Bay as we departed the boat harbour and soon found ourselves amongst the Shearwaters tracking the Orca. Submarine World of the Orca 19th January 2024 Submarine world of the Orca is a truely fascinating place and today we were welcomed into this world by special members of the Bremer Bay Orca population. Bremer Canyon Cycle of Life 18th January 2024 Bremer Canyon cycle of life is incredible to witness as today we observed the process of krill to squid to tuna to Beaked Whale to Orca resulting in another incredible Beaked Whale hunt. Why are Bremer Orca Thriving? 15th January 2024 Why are Bremer Orca thriving and how are the family pods living in this region achieving such wonderful success? The population is estimated to be nearly 300 strong and over the last decade many new calves have been welcomed with all observed surviving those first challenging few years of life. Witness the Bremer Orca Hunt 12th January 2024 Witness the Bremer Orca hunt as today over 80 known Orca completed a successful hunt of an adult male Cuvier’s Beaked Whale during a phenomenal day with the Orca of Bremer Bay. It was set to be a cool day as thunderstorms rumbled towards the mainland but the journey to the Orca sighting grounds was clear. Orca Biggs Returns to Bremer Canyon 11th January 2024 Orca Biggs returns to Bremer Canyon as today the handsome boy surfaced right alongside us and showed off his incredible and very distinctive dorsal fin. It was a wonderful day out on the water as we observed a number of familiar faces in The Patch which we have not seen for a while. Bremer Orca Calf Mother Revealed 10th January 2024 Helen (WWWA06) our most recent Orca calf in the Bremer population has had her mother revealed today and she is Nicki, part of the Alki Pod. Alki Pod Welcomes New Calf Helen 8th January 2024 Alki’s family pod welcomes new calf Helen as today we could confirm that the newest member observed this season belongs to Alki and her family pod! Bremer Canyon Killer Whale Watching 7th January 2024 Bremer Canyon Killer Whale Watching is underway in Bremer Bay as today we enjoyed the company of over fifty Orca from three different family pods. It was a beautifully calm day as we departed the boat harbour and soon made our way to the sighting grounds. Southern Ocean Orca Hunt 6th January 2024 Southern Ocean Orca hunt was the focus today for Stella and her family as they worked hard to find a meal opportunity. It was a beautiful morning with a calm sea as we made our way out to The Patch and with very little wind around the Shearwaters were finding it tricky to cover ground. Bremer Bay Killer Whales 2024 5th January 2024 Bremer Bay Killer Whales 2024 has been a wonderful start to the season as today we caught up with B-Slice and his family pod. A cool breeze ruffled the oceans surface as we departed Bremer Bay and with winds easing today it was set to be an enjoyable day out on the water. New Orca Calf for Bremer Bay 4th January 2024 New Orca calf for Bremer Bay was sighted today as the newest addition to the population was seen playing with calves from nearby family pods. It was an interesting start to our morning once we arrived in The Patch as signs of activity in the area were strong. Our season has just begun as we enjoy daily departures from Bremer Bay to see the apex predators who call these waters home. The family were busy foraging initially as they were in stealth mode and very focused. It has been a spectacular season with 100% sightings achieved again this season and incredible action as the Daily Whale can attest to since May 25th.
